The name is literal.

A loft in Riga. Brick, beams, the raw shell of the building. Industrial bones, kept honest.

The room is part of the studio. Sets get built here. Lights hang from the rafters. The camera moves through real space, on a real floor, against real walls. Mechanism over mystique starts in the room you are standing in.

If you visit, you see how the work is made. That is the point.

A small core. The right specialists per brief.

We are not a fifty-person agency to bill. We do not have a freelancer's bandwidth either. The studio runs on a tight permanent core, and brings in the camera operator, the 3D artist, the casting director, the colourist, the sound designer the brief actually needs.

The brief decides the team. The team does not pad the brief.

Four disciplines, one register. The voice does not switch between Photo and AI. The cadence is the same on the casting page and the design page. That is what makes the four pillars one studio instead of four side hustles.

Three and a half years in.

Black Loft started as one person's freelance practice. The work hardened, the briefs got bigger, the team grew. Three and a half years later it is a studio.

Same posture, more capacity. The four pillars came from the work, not from a strategy deck.

• Subcontracting craft to win a budget.
• Briefs that belong in a different studio. We will say so.
